AP and the Vikings have agreed to a 3 year contract.  It is reported that the new deal includes a guaranteed 2015 salary of $12.5 million and some injury guarantees for the following season, per a source informed of the situation.  Rapoport adds that Peterson's 2016 base salary is reduced, but it can be made up based on incentives.  The Third year of the deal includes no guarantees.  good luck.

I think I also read that we can cut him after this season, with no cap hit. Sounds like a good negotiation for the Vikings. If he is a beast, you keep him on, if he is a bust you cut him with no cost to the team after this season.

Only in America.

What about it?  That we can forgive people and move on? I'd like to think there are some Canadians out there that can do that (bertuzzi and roy come to mind).  So save the "only in America" stuff for stuff like "Only in America can we have a world class women's soccer team but the men's team loses to Jamaica in an elimination game in the gold cup," or "Can be at the top of the worlds economies but consistently turn out some of the lowest performing kids in the world with our education system."

The new contract has an out so we can cut him if he doesn't learn from his mistakes (or for all sorts of reasons).  Not sure what's so horrible about this.
