Apple River

Anyone ever try for trout out of the apple river? Gonna give it a try just for giggles on saturday. I've heard that it's only marginal at best, so I'm curious to hear anyone's past experiences on the river. Is there any natural reproduction, or are they all stocked trout?

over the years I've hit the Apple while travelling to the races at Cedar Lake Speedway in the summer- some years I have some good action with smallies and white bass, and other years the Apple seems to be empty of fish

It just didn't seem to have favorable habitat. It was fast moving, but wasn't rapids. Had no pools, riffles, or structure. I wasn't willing to travel far either as it was hard to wade because of the deep, fast water and lot's of loose rocks.

Checked out a couple spots on the willow river upstream of New Richmond. Were nice spots, but didn't catch anything other than a creek chub. Sounds like it's low quantity/high quality though. Time wasn't on my side today, otherwise I would've shelled out a few bucks and fished in the state park.

The only place on the apple river that had any potential was wagon landing springs. I seen some trout surfacing there. But I couldn't get to them because it was super shallow and too muddy to wade out far enough.
