HP Rating

8-Ball

Recommended Posts

Hi All- I know hp rating is posted on most boats.. but I don't have that info in front of me right now. Do you guys think a 35 hp is too much for a 14 ft deep v Sylvan (tiller). Thanks in advance... 8-Ball

I have a 14 foot Smoker Craft rated for 35 hp. I changed motors wanted a 25hp but the mechanics said with 4 strokes there so heavy you actually lose power from to heavy. went with a 20 hp which was only 10# heavier glad I did it goes very fast with a good hole shot.

I have a 16 foot lund with 25 Yamaha. It's electric start with battery in the back. It really drives horrible if I'm in it alone bordering on dangerous. I put a few sandbags up front to control it if I'm fishing alone. I'd stick with a 15 on a 14' boat.
