Iowa turkey hunting?

Have had some great hunts for turkey/deer over the years near the southern border, but has been a while since hunting down there. It's good, but will never hunt that state again. Plus, I think you need to own a badboy buggy & yeti cooler to hunt any kind of game in Iowa anymore. It's for the hollywood hunters and wanna bees.

I think Iowa resident turkey tags are too expensive, I don't buy them. You can check the DNR HSOforum and see how many go unsold. Turkey tag costs the same as a deer. No thanks. Since I am not a Hollywood hunter, I guess I am a wannabee, rats. Lol

There are quite a few public hunting spots along the Missouri River from Sioux City down to Council Bluffs that hold turkeys in good numbers (atleast six that are well known and quite large). Throw in the Loess Hill (there are public tracts in those as well) and I doubt a hunter could hit all of the public ground in a weeks time; all within a 100 mile drive. Also on the Nebraska side of the river you have the Winnebego and Omaha Indian reservations that offer turkey hunts on their tribal ground (again next to the Missouri river on the Nebraska side). Lots of options for a turkey hunter on the western side of Iowa.

There's no deer down there. And the few that are around are very skrawny & malnourished, kind of similar to florida keys deer. Don't forget to pick up a case of sqwincher & some of those mechanical broadheads that penetrate 1/2" on your way down.
