What paint finish to put in garage?

Not really sure it's a good idea to use a straight exterior primer over drywall.The primer needs to meet the demands for drywall sealing which is in the form of pva.

I think a regular pva primer should be fine.Check with your painting rep to make sure.Usually they get updated info month to month on there lines of products

The multi purpose primers have mixed reviews.They worked fine for me but some people had bad luck with it when it comes to bare drywall.It just depends on the circumstance

Note: Be mindful that your taking a risk by doing this project in a non heated garage in the winter.You have to take your time waiting for the primer and paint to set between coats.Has to be warm around the clock for these products to set right.Very risky but not impossible.

I know I can use a combination of propane heaters and electric space heaters and keep the temp 50 or higher. Still risky? Probably a judgement call I guess....

As long as you meet the requirements for temperature according to what ever the PVA your using.You can get the specs online for most primers.

Well last update. It was a pain, but we kept the temperature 50 or better out there. I think we got a good cure. Now my wood stove just arrived, so I think it will be easier to keep heated for awhile to ensure everything dries out before letting it get cold again. Thanks for all the help
