Trolling Motor Battery Life

lawman

Question

I have two, four year old, Interstate brand deep cycle batteries. I have had no issues with them and the plates inside appear to be in very good shape. I usually replace by trolling motor batts every 4 years but am thinking why get rid of them if they are holding up. Opinions??

Keep the electrolyte level properly maintained with distilled water, avoid deep-cycling more than 50%, and always recharge as soon as possible after each use and they could go for a long time yet.

yeah, I guess I do't know why you would replace them if everyhting is going good. No need to set a date on somehting unless it's critical to somehting. I replace my batteries once they start showing that they are failing. I've got 7 years on my AGM's and they still do what I need thenm to do so I'll go on 8!
