Warm weather and our dogs

Recommended Posts

Just a reminder ..... With these warm days in MN and the Dakotas (60's to low 70's) we need to be extra careful working our dogs. I remember what happened a few years back when a good number of hunting dogs died from over heating in MN and SD. Carry plenty of water and really watch your dog. If your dog is like mine she will not quit working.

This weather is killing me. Been out a few times, already have a few birds, but due to the heat, I stick with first and last hour of hunting times, my dog won't quit either, and there is not a rooster out there worth losing my dog over. I also have a powder I add to water, it's k9 restart, from tech mix. Also like a Gatorade for dogs. Even if it is a line of you know what... my dog likes it and I can actually get her to stop and drink, could never do that with water. After the weekend, the weather looks like it might straighten out to normal

The forecast was for a cold and wet October, so much for that. Every time I get a day off work its 70 degrees. I went out yesterday in the heat. We took it easy hunting for short periods and then cooling off. I saw a lot more birds than opener. The corn is coming down fast. Bring on the cold weather!
