Putting Weight On A Dog

Coon

Recommended Posts

Got a little Jack Russell that come down with heartworms and lymes disease both. She's a 16 lb. dog normally, but she's about 12lbs. now. She's always ate like a bird. We been putting canned food and other junk in her feed (Purina dog chow), but she aint putting on any weight. You guys got any ideas how to get some weight back on her? Thanks.

p.s. yes she's been to the vet and has been and continues to be treated just anit gainin any weight.

have you tried veggies and potatoes? once is a while as a treat i will get chicken breast boil them, shred them, make up some peas, carrots, green beans, and some mash potatoes. Mix it will the dry food and let them have at it. Might try a higher protein food too rather than junk??? good luck

Feed the dog real MEAT , beef , pork, fowl, fish , eggs, cheese, anything natural...Feed the meat each day along with a small amount of dry food , and fresh water. Dog will put on weight, look and feel better. That heartworm treatment is hard on them.
