Planning an elk hunt in Wyoming

My father and I would like to come out to Wyoming to do an elk hunt. For our first time we just want to hunt cows. How do the tags work out there for non res. and any good outfitters you all could recommend? We are newbies and don't quite know the process.

I am far from an expert on Wyoming, but my son and I hunted antelope there last year for our first big game hunt out west. I know enough to tell you that you missed the non resident elk license draw for the 2014 season. That said there is a left over tag sale sometime in early summer. One recommendation I would have is to buy a preference point this summer, it will be good for next years draw and will help you with your chances. Just google wyoming game and fish and check out their site, tons of info there.
