To get the blue lube inside you have to take the first pull the red rubber cap off of the top and then unscrew the small nut off of the top then the spring and then unscrew the cross piece that hold the flag when it is set. Then the spool and the rod it is attached to should just slide out the bottom. Put the lube in the tube and then put some on the rod attached to the spool and put it back together and your done.

iffwalleyes said it well. the only thing I would add is to use a coat hanger and some gun cleaning patches and clean out the old grease and possibly moisture first. then reassemble them. Make sure you use lots of Blu-Lube. I usually squirt a bunch of it in the tube from the bottom before inserting the rod and spool back in. Then, I "twist" the spool as I put it back in.
