Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Jigging decoy

Recommended Posts

How often is it necessary to jig your decoy? Should it have constant movement.

Or can one just let it hang most of the time?

Everyone has there own opinion. When I was a kid, Dad would get mad if I touched the decoy to much. I tend to jig them every half hour or so, but I rarely spear without a live chub.

I believe it has to do with the weather. And time of day. There's time where I can jig it as much as I want and they will come in and just nail it. Other times if a fish comes in they will spook if I move the decoy. I don't use a live decoy.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. Personally, I have a hard time leaving them sit still for any amount of time.

I will jig quite often, but I will also jig very aggressively at times. As Sham said no right or wrong answer and I let the fish decide what they want. Start out slow and passive then work your way up or do it the other way around.

I have also noticed that this year I have been having more success with only one decoy in the hole and nothing else. Not sure why this is but its working for me so I try not to fix it. wink.

It also depends on the lake I'm spearing. If I know one thing works,I will start working the decoys that way and then change as I fish. If its a new lake I will change decoys every 1/2 hour or so until I find what they want. again I let the fish decide for me.

Its strange how they can behave so different from day to day. A couple years ago I averaged 5.days a week spearing. Same spot every day and same time each day. One day they wanted aggressive jigging the next day they didn't. I could find no real pattern to it.

I usually start out jigging alot and if they don't show up I slow it down and see what happens.

I think if you are bringing in fish (of any type) keep doing what you are doing.

If you stop seeing fish switch it up.

This year I have been jigging alot more tgan I ever have... and I am seeing more fish.

Yesterday I had a 30+ incher that spooked from my decoy when I moved it...the day before that I had one about the same size slam the decoy as I was jigging it. I think it is totally dependent on the day.

There is no right way or wrong way when it comes to decoy movement. I never move a decoy the first 3/4 hr., then I just raise it up 6 ins., jig it slow about 3 or 4 times then hang it back up. you will be suprized how many times a norg will swim into the hole just after you hang the decoy up.

Ive found decoys dont even compare to a red eye wiggler with hooks removed. They will come in and slam it repeatedly until i get him. Even if i miss. I have not seen a fish yet this year that i have not got. I'm using bowfishing equip. And even if thay arrow goes zinging by he will circle around and keep after the spoon. They seem leary but curious to decoys. But not aggressive.

I'm guessing you're on a lake that is rarley dark house fished..

if that's the case enjoy it now... because they will get smarter.

    • Dandy Gobbler Don!
    • I took a short ride the other day but still a little chilly out in the breeze. Streets were pretty good as they were out sweeping them before the last snow. Saw a lot of bikes out the last couple of days. Don't forget to put your new licence tag on as I almost did.
