Sabaskong Bay...couple hours to kill

Recommended Posts

Some buddies and I are heading up to whitefish bay to fish for trout in a week. Due to a work thing, I'll be going up the day before the others. I'll be cruising through Nestor Falls about 3pm. Thought maybe I'd check out sabaskong bay for crappies or walleyes. Can anyone tell me:

Can I drive my truck onto Sabaskong Bay from Nestor Falls safely? Where is the access? How far will I have to drive in order find fish? Should I concentrate on walleyes or crappies? What depths should I seek? Gohere Bay? Wolf Island?

Any advice would be helpful. If I can't drive, I'll probably just skip it since I'll be getting there so late in the day.

Thanks.

I would suggest stopping and fishing for crappies it is never to late. Crappies are either an early or later bite. You can get on in Nestor Falls using Shrumm's ice road. It is across the street from the Groc. store on Sabaskong Bay rd. there are signs.
