Unsure what firearm is legal?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I want to do some Coyote hunting in Carlos Avery and the surrounding area. I am unsure though what firearm is legal to use. I am certain my shotgun is ok, but how about using my muzzleloader? Can I use my .223 there?

Thanks!

Hey mtheis, i have hunted coyotes a few times in carlos avery, only have 1 to show for it but im new into predator hunting. I use my .22-250 and your .223 is perfectly legal. If you have any interest in meeting up and hunting it together sometime id be game. Found a new field scouting that im eager to try out...

Cool. I will keep you in mind. When I went deer hunting out there this year I used my Doe Bleat in a Can call. Wouldn't you know it, a coyote came in looking for an easy meal. This has happened alot through the years (I have actually called in more coyotes than deer with the thing), and I thought why not try for them?

I also called the DNR and they confirmed what everyone has said.
