Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Vexilar fl-8 slt issue

Recommended Posts

I've been using my same vexilar for the last 10-12 yrs without any issues. Recently it seems to have stopped working correctly. At first it wouldn't read anything so i got a new battery. With the new battery it does seem to be able to tell when the transducer is in the water but it won't read depth unless I turn the gain almost all the way up and even when I do that I don't trust it is showing me the right depth because everywhere I go it says 15 ft even if I'm pretty certain it's wrong and even with the gain up it won't see even the largest jig in my tackle box. Is my flasher just at the end of its life? Or can I just replace the transducer or some other component?

Would be nice to.be able to try a new transducer on there, any one of your buddies have one you can plug into yours and try out?

like the others have said it sounds like a bad transducer. I just had my Transducer go bad on my Marcum LX7 and it did the exact thing you said your Vexilar is doing. it would show 0ft and then it would jump to 15ft and then final to the correct depth but then is would just randomly jump around. you could always take it down to Vexilar and they will go through it and refurbish it for you.

I did get a chance to try a different transducer and found that is the problem, now I need to decide if I should spend $90 for a new transducer or just get an upgraded flasher. Any input? I only get out every few weeks right now so it probably won't get a whole lot of use for a few yrs until my kids are old enough to go out.

I too had an FL-8 SLT that went nuts. The motor fried out. I had to decide whether to get it fixed or just upgrade. I got it fixed for the $85 then I put it on the bAy. Youd be amazed what stuff goes for. I took that money and upgraded. Just an idea.

I had the same flasher a few years ago, when my ducer went bad I upgraded to a used fl-18 and sold the fl8 for $100 with no ducer if I remember right the difference was about $200.

I really like the zoom feature, that was the biggest reason for me to upgrade

Make sure the bottom of the transducer is clean. Junk on the bottom of it can cause issues also.

    • BBD!  More to come...
    • Bought from private seller; my mistake should have been one thing to check; there is no wiggling it at all, it’s frozen in there tried torching it to no avail; put everything back together hoping I could grease and crank up and down but the zerk keeps coming off, and now it doesn’t lower at all; will have to bite the bar and bring it in
    • There is at least double the number to the left side They roost 150 yards from where my blind is 123 congrats on the bird
    • The whole flock skirted me this morning, never coming closer than 100 yds.  Stayed in the landowners back yard all morning before heading to parts unknown. Counted 7 longbeards in the bunch. Headed back now. I'm sure my blind will be surrounded when I get there. Good luck guys.
    • Holy Moses how far is that from where you are hunting? There's more strutters in that picture than I see in five years.
    •   I think they're going to be late this year
    • Well they were all n the other side of the brook and they come over to my side often, but not this morning. I wanted to check so I drove over there. Haha I was right dirty birds and the property owner does not anyone hunt there.  Maybe tomorrow I can sweet talk one of them to come over. I think a lot of hunters are waiting for later seasons. I checked a couple public land spots and no people tracks or truck tracks.
    • lots of gobbling this morning.  Birds seem to be staying in fairly tight area of woods so far this morning. They are near, but I cant seem to talk the hens over.  Had a nice hollering match earlier, was fun, though not productive. 3 Jakes came onto my lone upright hen decoy about 8am.  They turned out to be my test birds.  First year with the bow so,  tested what I could get away with, drawing the bow.  They didnt like it!  Birds stiĺl talking here.
    • Besides the gobbles i heard in the morning nothing is moving out here! Besides 11 deer pheasant and a coyote that was 10 yard out from getting one in his boilwrmaker!
