Honda Rancher intermittent start

When turning on the key, normally you can hear the fuel pump run for a second or two, but twice this weekend the fuel pump would not run after turning on the key and the engine would crank but not fire.

The display shows N so it is in neutral, and the kill switch is on, otherwise it wouldn't crank. Left it sit overnight the first time and it started the next morning, the next time messed around with the shift buttons and turned the key on and off and then th pump ran and it fired up.

Has anyone had an issue like this before?

I had that issue on my mule once...

I had been messing around in the electrical box and knocked the hot wire to the fuel pump off the terminal.

After ripping the fuel pump apart I finally reseated the wire and it has worked good ever sense.
