Attaching license to permanent

5 posts in this topic

Just wondering how people are doing this. Just bought a house and was wondering how people are attaching the license to their house to be removable when not using house to put on your portable. Any ideas? KOOBA

I printed out my DL# onto a 8x11 piece of paper, laminated it and then siliconed it between 2 slightly larger pieces of plexiglass. Then screwed it onto the house next to the door w/ sheet metal screws tipped w/ silicone. License is then applied to the outside of the plexiglass. We have one of those houses built w/ aluminum topper material. It works great, haven't had a single problem and no beef from the DNR over it.

You can wrap it around an old plastic license they used to use if you have one, or some type of plastic card, used up phone card, old credit card, (no numbers) and put a screw through it on your perm. and if your port. is canvas, safety pin it to the outside.

I have not affixed the (sticker) license to my permenant when using it. I lost too many and said the heck with it! The old plastic cards were so much better for this. Now I just carry the license in my possession. So far, wardens have not had a problem with this because they always ask for the "paperwork" anyways. They just care about the driver's license # or name + address on the outside of the house.

Has anyone gotten any beef from wardens who want the darn sticker outside? It's amazing what wind can do with it....

If I had to, I would affix the license to a piece of plexiglass, drill a hole in it to screw it into the side of the house, and use the hole w/ string to tie it to the portable.

I did what Rod Holder did and have had no problems with it on my Otter. I have the license and driver's license tied to my zipper.

    • 1.23.17 Sunset Lodge Fishing Report   Another week has come and gone up here at the Angle. The weather sure changed for us up here. The week started with below zero temps and we ended the week in the 30's with some rain mixed in. It still didn't affect the fishing, as houses produced their limits of fish once again including a 31", 11 pound walleye!   On the Minnesota side, we still have our houses scattered all around in 22-28 feet of water. Gold, pink and green were the best, tipped with a minnow or minnow head. We have had perch and saugers mixed in with all the walleyes, too!   On the Canadian side, the crappie and walleye bite has been very good! Crappies have been in 28-33 feet of water. Only fish to your limit and then switch to another species’ for the rest of the day. Walleyes have been great in 22-29 feet, using the same colors as the Minnesota side, tipped with a minnow or minnow head.   This is Forrest Huset with another fishing report.   We hope to see you all at Sunset Lodge this winter!
    • I think the good news is we haven't look great lately but are still putting up wins, nothing wrong with that. Preds have been playing well lately and we were back to back so not going to get too concerned over that loss. Heck Kuemper even looked decent last night. CM Haula and Pommers have looked a little better lately. I am starting to hope Parise is still injured or something, he kind of looks like he is doing everything as usual but just can't get anything going. If this is him aging we are in trouble, lots of years left on that contract. Maybe just a bad season or fighting the puck I just don't know but something is off with him. The good news is we don't need a lot of out of him right now, just a little bit of elevated play and every now and then contributing on the score sheet. Granlund and Zucker have been just crazy good, even without Koivu last night they were our best line, always dangerous.
    • Over last week I left my generator in my fishouse and didn't shut off the propane.  My CO detector alarmed.   When I opened the door to clear it out I could smell a difference.  It didn't smell like either gas or propane - just different.   It only took a few minutes to clear the alarm but I'm not leaving the generator in there anymore and making sure I turn off the propane.  I usually do that but didn't get it done this last time.  The furnace was shut off like usual though.
    • I am looking at the HT Ice Blue and HT Ice Blue Pro rods.  Is there really a difference?  Which one is the better buy?
    • I've owned both the Nils 6 inch Trekker and the Kdrill 6 inch.   In my "opinion", I like the Nils over the Kdrill.   Nils has less torque when drilling, you get more holes per battery, it is faster then Kdrill,  the NIl's material is better to handle thick ice,  you could use it as a hand drill if you run out of battery, and if you get the Trekker model you can make it different lengths.   Kdrill's advantage is it is lighter and you can reopen holes since it is a chipper style blade. I don't open old holes so I sold my Kdrill.
    • It's already happened....
    • So what is the Leech Lake Blood Bath Days???
    • Thanks guys for the quick ID response !  It's still hanging around this morning! Maybe another result of climate change?
    • Interesting. Have never seen one around our place in the winter,  although it is surprising sometimes how many birds seem to stay very late into the winter.
