Lake: Wright

Dates: 8/7-8/14/2010

Group: Morton

Report: We had a good week of fishing. The best fishing walleye days were on Kaminiskeg lake. We caught afew doz walleyes in the high teens and low 20's in length. We fished Kaminskeg 3 days, middle of the day was the best fishing we ever had in our 9 trips to Canada. The rest of the fishing on Wright was moderate. We were not able to locate a consistent place to catch walleye. We did take 1 day and hiked the old trail to the closed mine area, round trip over 21 miles.

Lake: Dobie

Dates: 8/15-8/21/2010

Group: Godfrey

Report: 5th trip in 4 years with L & M. 2nd trip this year. We had a severe cold front for our first 3 days with lots of wind. Water temp dropped 10 degrees in 2 days. Fishing was slow for Dobie standards these 3 days. Temps warmed some the last 3 days and the fishing improved. 2 of the last 3 days we caught over 100 fish per boat. No big fish this trip. 35 inch northern and 21 inch walleye won the $$$. Laminte flooring in the cabin is nice. Nice to have running water and lights in the fish cleaning house too. Saw 1 big bull Caribou at, now called, Caribou Crossing. You guys at L & M have been great. This was my 17th fly in, I know how good you guys are!

Hey Calvin n Hobbs, Each year is differnt, some years we run later than other years for the fall season, this year is one of the years we didnt have much interest for later fall trips so we wrapped it up earilier than normal. Glad you did enjoy the reports though this summer. When the time is right to bring your sons up, be happy to help you out on a trip.

Not enough demand to stay open for fishermen longer into the year. Each Sept is differnt, some are nice and some can be nasty cold. After a group gets snowed on they generally want to go earilier in the year on there next trip to get nicer weather... Our lakes are pretty far north of the border. For the small % of clients who like to go late Sept to go fishing its not economically profitable to stay open considering the flight distances we fly to the lakes. If the economy picks up where more people want to go fishing in Sept we'll be happy to stay open longer as then it would become worthwhile buissness wise.
