Ontario Canada Fly In Fishing Reports by LM Fly-in Outposts

Recommended Posts

Just as I have done the last 3 years, I reported our fishing reports/trip reviews and plan to do it again. Time is approaching when our first fishermen start to roll in (walleye opener). Will advise soon as I get some reports to post. What I intend on doing is reporting just on this thread of the reports.

We gather the reports, when we fly the group out at the end of the trip. They fill out a report themselves on the flight home (words of the anglers themselves) and I'll post what they have to say. Stay tuned to this thread, if interested.

Lake: Dobie

Dates: 5/15-5/22/2010

Group: Kritz

Report: Water levels where a bit low but fishing spirits where always high during our 7 day fishing adventure. Dobie proved to be a great fishing lake once again as walleye were taken in large numbers despite warm temps and sunny days. The youngster in our group landed the big fish of the week of 42 inches, caught on a walleye rig and curly tail. Great fishing, great times.

Lake: Austin

Dates: 5/15-5/22/2010

Group: Bufton

Report: This is our 3rd time with L & M, another great time. Cabin, boats, and equipment all 1st class. Our cabin had a Honda Generator with a coffee pot, microwave, toaster, electric fridge, ceiling fan all worked very well. (Note from L & M on this report, Austin is our only cabin set up with those little extras as we are expirmenting a new cabin system (run off generator) and may in the future add this system to other lakes if it works out well and get more good reports of people liking it). Back to Buftons report. The week for fishing started out alittle tougher the first acouple of days and improved through the week. Big fish of the week 41 inch northern.

Day 1. Arrive to Austin lake beautiful 70 degrees. Explored the east portage lake, several walleyes. Fishing was tough. We are a husband wife fishing team.

Day 2 Explored the northwest portage lake, several walleye but still biting very light.

Day 3. North portage, fishing starting to pick up, caught 35 walleyes by the outflow to Bamaji outflow, had shorelunch on a nearby island.

Day 4. Fishing the east portage lakes up to lake 1 and 2, caught 100+ walleyes

Day 5 Fished Austin the SE corner. Fishing was very strong, caught 100+ walleyes.

Day 6 Fished the NW inlet of Austin, caught 43 walleyes and 2 big northerns at 38 inches.

Day 7 Fished east portage lake, caught 73 walleye. Trolled for northerns and caught 10 pike over 30 inches with the largest being 41 inches.

Lake: Dobie

Dates: 5/22-5/30/2010

Group: Dueling

Report: Fabulous fishing! We caught literally thousands of walleye during our week. Dobie is a fantastic lake with fish at your doorstep....no long runs to catch all the fish you could ever want. Last year it was the groundhog and this year we had the raven. What could possibly be next for our team, of AARP veterans? Nice work Team L & M!!

Lake: Dobie

Dates: 6/6-6/11/2010

Group: Fresk

Report: Theres good news and bad news. First the bad news. Only 1 day of wind and rain out of 5. But we still caught fish. No big northerns this year, but caught lots of them. Now the good news. Lots of walleye in the 18-22 inch range. many of the fish are out in the lake now. Not enough days in our trip to check it all out. We'll have to try again next year. The facilities are great as is all of the equipment that runs it. The water is low and had lots of rocks to watch out for.
