captainshane
http://www.raptorresource.org/falcon_cams/Well it's almost time for the 1st egg to be laid. I thought I would post this again this year. The nest is outside of Decorah, Iowa. Last year they raised 3. Not much going on at this time, but it won't be long! MN Shutterbug
I just saw the egg when she got up. She waddled around a bit and carefully readjusted her feet on either side of the egg and carefully sat down. That cam sure gives a clear view. Jim Almquist
I was just watching and they said that the male was on the egg and then it made a racket and took off and left the nest. It took about 10 seconds and the female was on the nest. Very cool stuff!
Jim Almquist
She also fixed up the nest and then rolled the egg a bit before she sat back down. Her beak is a little different and her size is quite a bit bigger.
aanderud
If you go straight to the ustream link, you get chatter about the eagles and eggs and stuff. I was watching just the raw video from the raptor resource page, and not a lot of info....wife was watching the ustream link and people 'in the know' were chatting it up about this and that. I saw the eagle fluffing its feathers and stuff, thought it was just trying to warm up. But on the ustream chat they were saying it was laying another egg. That was at 6:42 UStream Link Edit: Apparently someone posted the 2nd egg laying up on youtube:
Jim Almquist
The new egg is much whiter then the first.
MN Shutterbug
The eagle sure is constantly aware of it's surroundings. Kinda makes you wonder if it ever sleeps.
micpic
I watched them this morning and was lucky enough to see the female fly in while the male was sitting on the nest. He made quite a racket. After about a minute he flew off and the female daintyly took over. Jim's right, one egg is speckled and the other pure white. Thanks for sharing this Captain.Mike
Jim Almquist
Right now they are operating the camera by remote and doing close ups. Very sharp and very very cool looking!
MN Shutterbug
I see someone is playing with the camera now - panning and zooming.
Jim Almquist
Did you catch Mom and Dad in the nest at the same time ?
MN Shutterbug
Did you catch Mom and Dad in the nest at the same time ? Not me. After 10 minutes or so of inactivity and I get bored and have to turn channel. It finally appears to be snoozing.
captainshane
The 1st egg is estimated to hatch April 1st!
finnbay
How much further ahead this nest is than ours. Checked out 5 nests yesterday and had "sitters" in 3 of them. All have been within the last week. Going to be the end of April for anything up here.
captainshane
The 1st egg in this nest was Feb. 23rd. The nest is located in the NE corner of Iowa. Last year the 1st egg in the nest was Feb 25th and 1st hatch was April 3rd.
Jim Almquist
I have been checking in to see if there has been any progress. Got to see mom come back and give dad a break. Very cool to watch!
CFRay
This past Monday one of them brought a rabbit to the nest, it was in the picture for the past two days, I cannot see the bunny in today's view however, it's a tighter shot on the bird. They must know the hatch is close and the bunny is there for the first meals.
captainshane
CFRay, I saw the rabbit this morning....good thing for the somewhat cooler temps. That rabbit could be a little smelly!ps. They just panned over to where the rabbit "was". Only thing left is a couple of unlucky rabbits feet.
RebelSS
I saw three eggs today....

eyeguy 54
Got to see the rotate about 10:30. 3 eggs. The rabbit is uncovered again to the left. Cottontail maybe? Pretty neat!
CFRay
The rabbit is still there. Food in the outdoor fridge. Must have been partially covered up yesterday.
