Bobcatbeej, How hard the job will be depends on what the end result your looking for is and what kind of equpiment you have to do the job. The nicer the finish you want, the better and harder the prep job will be. All of it can be done by hand. Cleaning, sanding, filling in the imperfections, etc. Power sanders help alot. The refinishing itself is the easy part as long as you have spray equipment and know how to use it.

There are alot of steps involved if you want the job to last. But it's not something you can't do yourself if you have the time. Find some type of "how to" on the internet. I'm sure there's tons of stuff. Factory finishes on boats is usually a gel coat, but some automotive products work very well and the cost is alot less than marine products.
Happy sanding.
