Hunting notes from GFP

Recommended Posts

The South Dakota Pheasant Season will begin with the Youth and Resident only Seasons.

The Youth Pheasant Season is October 2-6. For more information, visit http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/small-game/youth-pheasants.aspx

The Resident Only Pheasant Season is October 9-11. This season is open on public lands only. For more information, visit: http://gfp.sd.gov/hunting/small-game/pheasant-resident-only.aspx

These seasons are great opportunities to get youth involved in the outdoors.

Hunters are reminded that it is illegal to use a a bait station or a salt lick when hunting big game animals.

A bait station is a place where edible foodstuffs or minerals are placed or maintained as an attractant to game animals. The use of scents alone does not constitute a bait station.

Many retailers offer products that can be poured on the ground or on vegetation for animals to consume. Hunters are reminded that these products, although legal to sell, are not legal to use when hunting big game animals.
