we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted August 10, 2010 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted August 10, 2010 Channel Catfish - Good: There are good numbers of channel catfish of all sizes, with quite a few large fish. Fresh cut bait, such as bluegill fillets, work well. Due to the very clear water, fish during the late evening and just after sunset. Bluegill - Good: Bluegills are being caught best in the evenings. Fish just past the edge of the aquatic vegetation with small pieces of night crawler under a bobber.
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted December 24, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 24, 2010 Ada Hayden is usually one of the last lakes to freeze in Central Iowa, use caution and check ice thickness frequently. Rainbow Trout - Good: Most of the rainbow trout stocked in November remain to be caught through the ice. They seem to be traveling in schools around the perimeter. Try staying in the 5 to 10 feet contour interval. They can be caught on most ice fishing jigs or jigging spoons tipped with wax worms. They are confined to the North pit. gloomiseye
Some good size crappie are being caught near the steep north shore of the south pit. The best bite is in the evening.Rainbow Trout(Good) are being caught in good numbers mostly along the East shore of the North pit. The trout don't seem to travel the deep water so try staying in the 5 to 15 foot contour interval. They can be caught on most ice fishing jigs or jigging spoons tipped with waxworms or fish with a small live minnow on a hook. They are confined to the North Pit.
