Heatseeker
With all this warm weather it looks like things could be setting up for a good opener this year! Where will you be heading and why?
bobbymalone
Where: My couch. Why: It's not worth the crowds. Fishing will be just as good a week later. Besides, by the time the opener rolls around I will (hopefully) have already logged a bunch of pool 2 monster walleye.
rattleL
Lake Koronis because I have a cabin on it, and the fishing is usually good enough to keep me coming back.
LoonASea
Im headed to No West Wi so I can fish for 2 weeks before mn opens,,, after that I will be on the St Louis or some where close to it LAS
PerchJerker
There's a bunch of us that have gone to Red Lake every year since the season reopened ..... this will be the 5th year if my memory is correct. My cabin is about an hour away from there so it works out well, we stay at my cabin and trailer to the lake each day. Fishing has been outstanding! waterbound
Kabetogama because I've been there every Opener since '95 except in '96 when the lake was still froze over so we went to Winni instead. The fishing is pretty good and the catching ain't bad either
Northlander
St. Louis River because its 5 minutes from my door and lots of big walleyes.
New2TheFly
Where: A wedding Why: My cousin decided she had to get married on FISHING OPENER (Is fishing a legitimate excuse to miss a wedding?) I should be heading to Winnie the following weekend.
Quetico
I'd skip my cousins wedding if I had a decent shore spot or a boat ride on Walleye opener. No question there for me.

I dont understand why anyone would get married on fishing or deer opener.
JBMasterAngler
Those are probably the 2 dumbest weekends to get married on in Minnesota! Why don't you do what they did in "grumpy old men 2" and don the suit and tie and jump in the boat for a few hours of early morning fishing before the wedding starts? If there is a will there is a way my friend
hhguide
Ottertail I have a tournament the second weekend of the season out there! should be shaping up to be a good bite!

If there is a will there is a way my friend - was an usher at a wedding this summer wasnt wearing the shirt and tie but fished a new lake next to the wedding town (it was a few hours from home) cuaght a few and still made it thier in time for the wedding hell of a deal. PerchJerker
Hey Perchjerker, where is your cabin?? Maybe we can bump into each other on opener...! The closest town is Talmoon but most people have probably never heard of Talmoon. Bowstring lake is probably the bigggest and most well-known landmark around us, we're not too far from there ...... Borch
I'll be in the woods chasing turkeys unless we shoot 3 on our first day. If I make it out it will be on Rice or Koronis.
canman
I'll likely be on a Hutchinson area lake. The water temp will have an impact as to where I go.
