evinrudespeed
I've done some open water fishing in this area before, but haven't done much winter. Does anyone have suggestions of what lakes I should try? Ice conditions and accessibility? I'm driving from Superior just to give you a starting point. Not picky about species, I'm just looking for action and safe ice!! Anyone driving yet or is the big snowfall causing a slush mess? Thanks for the info and good luck this season fellow fishers!!

jefdig
Go to 4 posts above this one for a more up to date info. The one of Douglas County Fish Reports, it's had some steady reports and its about the same title as this one. Not sure what the warm weather and rain did to most lakes, but St. Croix in Solon was 18+ inches yet with trucks traveling all over on Sun. Also the St. Croix Flowage by Gordon had good ice of 16 inches in front of the access at Tuverson's resort. Before the weekend and weather, I had been to Nebagamon which had 16+ inches and trucks seemed to be driving everywhere. Was also at Minnesuing and drove out on the South end and the ice was 14+ there. I've heard alot about that lake having springs and to watch driving up and down it, so I stayed on the South bowl end. Hope this helps some.
