B-man715
Big Round and most of east Balsam are ready for foot traffic. My buddy said Butternut is ready too. And of course all of the smaller lakes like the Blakes and Ashes are ready as well. I fished out on Big Round last night. It was dead! There where 4 other guys fishing near me and between the 15 tip-ups out nobody had a flag (I left a little after 7pm).
dudewheresmyboat
Can someone tell me if you can legally park on the east shore access on big round??? I would like to get out there but not want to walk from the west shore. Thanks!
Walleye Guy
We were told at the lake shore owners meeting that the east access was for band members only. Have I seen others go out from there? Yes. In my opinion its not worth the hassle.

Walleye Guy
I just (at 11:00 pm) CPR'd a 43 inch pike on Big Round. It hit a shiner minnow in really shallow water.
WalleyeChaser
Anybody ever have luck on the eyes out there on Big Round? Headed up to my bosses cabin sometime this winter and thought about giving it a shot!
dudewheresmyboat
Are they driving on the lake yet? Any ice thickness reports?? I'm looking to access the east end of the lake.
vman59
I would not recommend driving on any lake yet other than with an atv. I have had ice depths from 4 -7 inch's depending on the lake.
Walleye Guy
Was out on Big Round the past three days. 8 solid inches of ice with another 4 inches f frozen slush on top of that. Never saw any vehicles on the lake. You can drive anywhere with a wheeler. You can get down to Indian bay with a wheeler. I would not recommend driving a vehicle yet. dudewheresmyboat
Late report......Fished Big Round on Jan 1st. West side of lake, Spent 6hours out there, 8 guys working looking for fish. All we could come up with was perch. Punched over 100 holes from 3fow to 20fow. There were some decent perch but we were looking for the gills. Good luck! Saw two 1/2ton pick ups on ice on west shoreline.

dudewheresmyboat
5 guys, spent the whole day (saturday) on big round a bit cold to be hole hopping comfortably. Drilled about 80 holes looking for fish. Caught lots of fish, a lot of sorting but did manage a few keepers crappies and gills nothing on tip ups. 5-15fow, people driving all over the lake. Marking suspended crappies but can't get 'em to bite, apparently I'm not the only one with this problem Been fishing between between 6:00 and 10:00 pm. Any suggestions.? Crappiechopper
Balsam was still slow 5 nights ago. Fish are not feeding agressively yet, all of the fish I caught were pale and just mouthing the baits.Should pick up soon, or I will. Anyone with a different story? me_fathead
I grew up fishing Wapogasset and Cedar. Some of my best fishing experiences(and childhood memories) happened on those lakes. Nothing quite like sight fishing in five feet of water when suddenly the panfish leave because there's a 60" muskie under two holes.
