Guest
some of the largest walleye are being caught on crankbaits passed by mid lake humps. The most numbers though are hitting in jigs with crawlers or leeches. Look for trees particularly near points where the bottom is at least 13 feet. We did best recently in 17 to 18 feet right next to the trees. The most aggressive largest fish seem to come right away so KEEP MOVING. No sense hanging out waiting unless you just want a nap (as I sometimes do). Sometimes the fish pick up the bait and the indication is a slack line. This is easier to feel with a little heavier jog but you've got to be quick on the hookset or the walleye will spit the bait. On the other hand the exception is often the rule on Devils Lake as just yesterday I watched a young lady guest catch three nice eyes right off the dock in three feet of water on a purple twisty tail she picked to match her eye shadow. Keep your lines wet. PS. If you come up here this month you'll have the lake nerly to yourself!!------------------SpiritWaterSteveThe Spirit Water InnBox 68Minnewaukan, ND 58351Reservations Toll Free: (877) 305-1528
