Camp Ripley archery hunt

I'm in! I think that this is my 4th year going (not consectutive)but I havn't arrowed any type of deer. Is this bad luck or is it common? I've seen nice bucks and had opportunity to shoot does but...

Are there any good secrets out there without saying too much?!

Mainly I like going there just for the chance to see a monster (in the woods or at weigh-ins). I hunt a WMA in the northeast metro and don't get many chances to see any deer, so I always look forward to Ripley.

Don't feel too bad. The record harvest (2008 first season) boasted only a 15% success rate including does and fawns.

I been there at least 4 times myself and have not tagged a buck but still consider it a darn good chance to do that. It may have something to do with missing a 22 yard shot at a massive 8 pointer though.... whistle

The biggest buck I have ever seen hunting came under my stand at ripley. I got buck fever so bad I almost fell out of my stand. I could not tell you how many points but it was over 12 and under 20 and the thing was just wide across the shoulders. I heard it coming through the woods and was all ready to shoot but I just looked at it because I could not believe the size of this monster. I am sure he is dead but there are some of his offspring's roaming around.
