Straps on my wheelhouse jacks

dfv87

Question

I am not happy with the rusting cable systems on my wheelhouse, I was considering going to straps... Pros/cons please?

Do they freeze up? or does the weight of the house take care of that? what about tearing breaking in the cold? Any input would be appreciated.

I had a wheel house with straps and I now have a wheelhouse with cables. I liked the straps much better. No problems with freezing, and it doesn't sound like it is going to break at any moment and take off your head like the cables do.

I have a wheelhouse on cables. I have, in the past had a delay (at best) where the cable was encrusted in ice from the highway and slowed my set-up. Personally, I'd tend to believe if straps really get soaked from highway spray, it could be some time before you'ld get them thawed and the house down onto the ice, Especially if it's REALLY cold outside and you don't REALLY want to be outside. That's just my humble 'observation'. Phred52

Make it so the winches and straps are removable. That is the only way I will make mine. Just remove them after cranked up, and put them in the house for travel. No outdoor elements on them at all. Works great.
