Slugs in garden eating tomatos

5 posts in this topic

I have tons of slugs i've discovered in my garden, and they get at any low-lying tomatos and eat them up. Any easy way to get rid of these? My neighbor also has them and he said this is the first time he's seen them.

I've been adding stakes and tying up the branches to try and keep them as far off the ground as possible.

We have the same issue. We bury cat food or tuna cans in the dirt up to the rim, then fill them with beer. A lot of slugs go in them and drown, but we never can get rid of all of them. Hope someone has a better idea. CH

Set some plates under the tomato plants, edged level with the soil and fill them with beer. The slugs will crawl in and die.

The best way I've seen to combat slugs is to place cocoa shell mulch or broken eggshells. Cocoa mulch works great looks good and smells good too.
