MAC- Leech Results

IMO, not really, it was conditional based from what I heard with a big cold snap the night before. Heavy fog the morning of indicates that. It's not that fish weren't active, just none were boated. I heard a few opportunities were there and not capitalized on and some fish lost before getting netted.

Only 10 teams. Turnout this year has been low. I almost did this one but after fishing the Mille Lacs event with only 12 teams I didn't bother. Ended up fishing the general area of Leech over the weekend and it was slow for us as well. Bluebird skies and high pressure is never that great for skllunngen'. We did see alot of fish and boated a few. No reason to sign off Leech as you will probably run into more favorable conditions. On a side note: Old school baits produced almost every fish and every follow over the weekend. Slow dive and rise presentations were the key.. Everything else was a waste of time.

I fished it. we had several fish going just no commitment. Fish were on rocks and weeds. I think all the teams were seeing fish. conditions could not have been worse.

Thanks for the report. I only have a couple of hours every morning (Family Trip), but it sounds like it might be worth at least one trip out to try some of the submerged rocks and maybe Sucker/Portage weeds.

I don't understand how anything reported here on a lake that size would keep you from trying...they eat everyday...so then, they are going, good luck!

No, I'm with you. I'll fish anywhere/anyplace regardless. Leech just has a tendency to pop around this time and can get hot for a couple of weeks.

The guy I'm going out with is a big walleye guy and no action now means more walleye fishing when we come up again in Sept. when the fishing should be better.

    • Careful, man.  Any such suggestions get criticized pretty heavily.  I came here around this time last year and posted something similar, and I hadn't been on this forum for quite some time.  My question was met by one of the mods with mock & ridicule.  But he thought that was okay as long as he put a smiley face or an lol after every sentence.  Funny, funny guy.  No wonder it's a ghost town around here.  Too bad, this was a must-read destination back in the day.
    • Here are a couple pictures from our WI season. We were able to take 5 birds. Two of us had two tags and one buddy just had one tag. Really think the predators in the area have these birds learning to be silent. They do not gobble much and if they do it’s mainly morning before fly down 2 or 3 times at the most. Over that last 5 years it’s been like this the first 10 years gobbling was heard through the day but now you don’t hear that gobbling in the distance or to calls very often. Still come to calls but almost ways silent now which is fine they still come in.   Finally all done and food plots are almost finished love the spring time.
    • Congrats on the bird
    • Congrats on the bird.
    • Assume you were in a blind since you are bow hunting.  That is a long time ...  active bird or no bird.   Very Nice.
    • Way to go!  That's persistence!
    • Way to go Britt!
    • So our bear friend came back today and she brought somebody with her. It might be time to quit feeding the birds sunflower seeds until next fall.
    • I picked up that double bag deal about a month ago at Home Depot here in Sioux Falls. Ironically it was the same weekend we had the big April snow storm.
    • I see Home Depot advertising for Memorial day but no Kingsford double bag on sale. Has anyone seen any on sale anywhere? I am down to my last bag and need to stock up, Memorial weekend is usually the time to do it.
