Favre Debut??

14 posts in this topic

what is your opinion?

my take on it is he looked like a 40 yr old with 3 days of practice on a new team....i bet he had to be nervous coming into the dome as a MN viking with all the hype even though it was just preseason.

his arm looked pretty strong, the ball had alot of zip on it and he had a quick release...he says he's more concerned about his legs then his arm...i'm guessin it will take him a bit to get back into football shape.

nice thing is he'll understand and know how to run any play in the book.

the players seem to all look up to him as a leader and soak up anything he's willing to say.

looks like the refs were up to season form for us though lol...cassel was 2-3 yards past of line of scrimmage when he threw that ball...couple other plays also...we might of gotten away with one on the last play of the game though...tough call.

if T-jack keeps playing that good, Favre could be an expensive back up.

Haven't you guys paid attention for the past 17 years? He RARELY gets hurt, and when he does, he plays through it. He is the Ty Cobb/Cal Ripken of football since he hasn't missed a game in years. He will be fine

I'd have to agree with Guru's take on this for the most part.

And yes it's going to take an injury or some REALLY bad play to get who-ever our back up QB turns out to be in the game..

Go Favre!... smile

Liked what I saw out of him. He is working with receivers that he doesn't know and they don't know him. Once they get the feel for each other, things will improve drastically. This week will be much better for everyone involved!

As for Tjunk........once good game does not a quarterback make. Think he has proven to everyone that he is about as streaky as they come. Up and down isn't going to win us a championship. If nothing else, maybe improve his trade stock so we can get something decent for him!

Reminded me of Brad Johnson's failed fill-in for Romo last year.

#4's timing was off and he better get in shape and not rely on his "previous years" of experience to detour a sack.

Cassel looked good, and yes he stepped over the line. Tjack looked good too. Thing about Tjack is that he's inconsistent. One play he looks stellar and the other he looks like a JV QB from some no name high school. Will the real Tjack please stand up!?! I didn't watch that much of the game though. How did Booty look? I wonder who's going to be cut?

If it where not for having Childness as a head coach, your post would be just good humor. When you have a coach like Chilly, who succumbs to public whining, acts like he is running for public office, you never know till it is too late wink

Farve is doing just fine IMO and will do fine this season.

I must have seen a deferent game. How can a QB be 6yds over the line of scrimmage and not know it? I know he was working on moving the ball down field but come on, It can't be one or the other. Then with 7sec on the clock for the first half and he throws the ball to the center of the field. This isn't collage ball, you can't just go down to stop the clock, someone has to touch you. That was just a pass to pad his stats nothing more. A 30yrd completion to nowhere.

I'm not sure you noticed but Favre has already made his pay check back for the NFL.

Favre is not a NFL God. He is just one player on a team!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHHHHHHHHHH...muddog don't bring that kind of stuff up to the junkson fans!!!! the kind of things your talking about would take awareness and leadership....jackson is mobile and has a great arm though!!!

the final drive was something where the pressure was on...only place you can't throw it is in the middle of the field with no timeouts.

    • Sure seems like a nice little bait. Takes the topwater frog to a whole new level.
    • They talked today about the D inability to find shooting lanes....I like Reilly's ability to walk the blueline with the puck and shoot quickly...maybe he could help...but he is not physical by any means... BB stated he wants a big physical Dman for starters.
    •   Good stuff...the main diff between Chicago and Mn was the way the Bowman took ownwership of the problem and Fletch did as expected today and blamed a hot goaltender, danced around pointed questions...he did however admit we are in a tough position with the Cap and few draft choices but steered clear of ownership to that problem....did you listen in by chance...it was almost laughable
    • BB, I cant say I disagree with any of those observations. They didn't produce when it counts. That is what really matters, but it isn't the first time that teams excel in the regular season and flop come playoff time and it certainly isn't something that is isolated to the Wild. The Hawks get some slack because they have won 3 cups in the last 7 years, but fact is they have been bounced in the last 2 1st rounds too. By that, they are no better than us. We will see what happens to the Caps. They have a tough draw with the Pens this round, but its not a stretch to say they will get bounced 2 years in a row and be the Presidents Cup winner. Lots of teams have that issue. Anaheim has had that tendency too. Playoffs are a whole different animal. The team makeup that works in the regular season usually doesn't translate well in the playoffs. I agree the Wild need more beef. Staal certainly helped, but they are far from a heavy team especially on the back end with our D. Early on I thought we had one of the deepest D corps in the league. Looking at them in this playoff series they looked weak. We needed a guy like Folin to step in and play some minutes and make a difference, but he was shell-shocked in his first playoff game. I don't think we have much help in that area in Iowa either. The heaviest guy we have Seeler, is a liability big time and I don't know if he will ever make it up to the big club.
    • You can pre-order on a Japanese web site ... i almost did but got spooked out with all the Japanese language and had no idea how to translate and know what shipping and price was LOL     i want one but will wait!!!  so many lures and not enough time
    • Wow .. Sprinkler!!  Wonder where and when we can get one!!
    • Thanks for the advice guys...keep it coming!   Much appreciated before I make a pretty expensive investment.   Ref
    •   I stated they are better than 3/4 yrs ago compared to themselves...my point is the Wild are far from a top tier top 8 team when it counts come playoff playoff time...period...no arguing what just happened.  BB was very vocal in the Presser..."we need to get Bigger/Stronger" and Fletch missed that boat time and time again. Career Years are great personal stats...am I happy for Granlund, Staal, Nino...yes...but personal stats only gets you more personal $$, but if those stats don't translate into team goals they are all for naught....and every NHL Player will tell you that. They did exceed my reg season projection but their true colors showed losing in the first round so over all I was spot on  IMO this team will be missing more than one of these "career year" guys by the start of the new season if BB has more say...and I am getting the feeling he will be getting more say on personel.
