What was it?

I was out bobber fishing for notherns last night.

I used a quick strike rig and a 6 inch sucker minnow.

One hook near the tail one hook near the gills.

The bobber went down once quick but never went back down.

When I checked the bait the head and the tail of the sucker were the only things left. The entire center of the sucker was gone.

I would have thought that a northern would have been able to take an entire 6" sucker minnow in it's mouth?

Do you think it was a norhtern or something else?

Definitely a turtle of some sort. this used to happen to me on the river a lot when going for cats with suckers and chubs. They'd literally gut the minnow with their mouths. Every now and then you'd hook one. What a mess, they'd usually roll and get all tangled. Not a fun job trying to cut 'em lose.
