Recommended Posts

Hey fellas...I've looked online but I don't know which of the millions of recipes to trust smile So I thought I'd ask here first! Anyone have a favorite homemade ice cream recipe?

I have an electric ice cream maker.....just wanting plain ol vanilla ice cream.

Thanks!

Doop, Here's one for just "plain ol' vanilla". You'll combine in a blender, 1.5 cups of heavy cream, 3/4 cup whole milk, 1 egg, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Process this for 2 minutes. After processing,(btw, now's the time to add fruits or flavorings) pour the mix into your freezer and let the magic happen, Easy enough! Enjoy! Phred52

Making a custard with raw eggs might not be a good thing.

Here is the cooked custard that my church uses for the annual ice cream social. It could easily be cut in half.

6 eggs 2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp salt 4 cups milk

3 Tbls flour 1 Tbls vanilla.

Beat eggs until light. Mix flour, sugar and salt, than gradually add milk. Cook in double boiler until it coats a spoon. Add the vanilla.

The custard can also be made in the microwave by cooking 14-15 minutes, stir every 2-3 minutes.

After the custard is cooled, mix with 1 1/3 quarts cream and freeze in an ice cream freezer.
