My Murray is dead.

3 posts in this topic

I have a Murray 12.5 40" mower that won't turn over.

Jumped on it this spring and it turned over maybe 1 1/2 times then went dead. It first sounded like a bad battery so that was replaced. I then replaced the following items: Starter, solenoid and ignition switch.

Still nothing.

I turn the key and nothing happens, completely dead.

The ground looks good and I can jump the starter with the battery via cables and it turns over.

I can jump the solenoid top two posts and the starter turns over.

Seems like I am getting power but there has to be a short or something somewhere.

I took all three safety switches off and tried to start it, nothing.

I jumpered all safety switches, nothing.

I checked the fuse and it is good.

I'm at a loss.

Model 40542A

serial 7318910472l00336

MFG Date 97104

Any help woul dbe appreciated.

Mike

I am no help, but if other suggestions still dont get it running, sounds like you might need a trip to Ed at the Hugo Mill smile

Did you just unplug the saftey switches or unplug them and jump a wire across the terminals some need to be open and some closed it varies with design?
