Port Mod Questions

I was going to post this under the other port mod topic, but didn't want to hijack someones thread, so here goes.

When you run lights in your portable, do you generally run them off of your flasher battery or do you run a second battery?

Also, how much light can I expect to get out of two rope lights (6ft). I was thinking of running one one each side of my one man and depending on if I got a second battery, I would then run wires through the tubes to the front or back.

I guess my questions would be:

-Can you run off of your flasher and still have good battery life

-Is there enough light from these things to not need a headlamp or lantern?

Any advice on this would be appreciated,

Thanks!

I usually run my lights off of a seperate battery. I made a splitter connection so if one battery runs low I can run both the lights and the flasher off of 1 battery.

I wouldn't run your power wires through the poles. With all of the expanding and conrtacting your just asking for something to bind up in there. I just zip stripped my wires to the outside of the poles and it works great

As far as how much light you can get off of 2 ropes it's all up to the light. I had 2 of the old clam rope lights and it was not enough. I got 2 new light strips last year that were almost too bright. Check some old posts on the BEst H ong K ong lights. They are very bright. With these you do not need a headlamp or lantern.
