minnows under the ice?

anyone have an idea on how to trap bait through the ice??? also i was thinking of taking minnow trap, making it 8" stuffing it down the hole while out for the day

I think the trappers that supply the bait shops find running water through culverts and trap there.

The guys around here usually designate ponds that they trap during the winter months! They cut holes in the ice with a chainsaw and drop their baited traps in, when they want to check them they have to cut the traps out, and repeat the process.

Use steel line so when you are recutting the ice you dont cut through a rope. Leechbait is right that is how we did it years ago when we sold bait.
