Navionics in Humminbird & Lowrance

Can I use the same Navionics chip in both a Humminbird & Lowrance unit?

I believe the Nav chip will work in both but the lakemaster chip will be Humminbird specific.

The premium chips and up should work ok in both. Older chips may have complications in Hummers..depending on the chip.

I am going to purchase a Bird model for next year that is a side imaging and Humminbird exlained to me that my lowrance chip would not work in the newer bird. I don't know if that is for all their models.

They told me that it would need a Lowrance specific chip for the new side imaging.

My bird wont take Lakemaster chips but does Navionics.

From what I currently understand, Lakemaster chips will not work in the new Humminbirds, just Navionics. Lakemaster compatibility with Humminbird is supposed to be coming. IMO (and this is just speculation), you'll need a "new" LM chip to work with the Humminbird units.

I'm not buying any chips right now until this is figured out as I'm going with Humminbird next year as well, and I'd personally prefer to run a LM chip. If its not fixed, I'll be running both brands, Lowrance for GPS (Lakemaster) and Humminbird for sonar/side imaging.

My Premium Navionics chips (Canada, South) work in both my 917 and 997si Humminbird units along with my h20c Lowrance unit.

Guys, we are talking next year's Humminbird units. I know they only take Navionics now, but that is changing next year. I was just wondering if my current Lakemaster chip will work in them once they accept Lakemaster. I guess for now its a wait and see.

The same Nav card will work in either Lowrance or Humminbird.

For LakeMaster you will need the proprietary card for Garmin, Lowrance or Humminbird - you can't use the same LakeMaster card in the other makes of GPS units.

Yes, I have to purchase a new Lakenaster card for my new bird.

My other Lakemaster chips will work in my 522 or my h20 so they are not wasted.

Thanks guys. Nice to know what I'm up against $$ wise when I switch to a bird next spring. My H2Oc is just to hard to read in the boat.
