first cat ever

7 posts in this topic

today i fished the mississippi river by anoka for the first time by boat. was fishing smallies and caught a cat on a lipless crankbait in 6 feet of water. the cat was grayish and maybe 4 pound at best. put up a good fight. my questions are. what type of cat do you think it was, again grayish in color. and is it unusual to catch them on artificial lures. i always hear about guys using live bait or cutbait. just curious. thanks

People catch Cats fairly commonly when jigging for Walleyes...so yes they will and do attack whatever they feel like.

We get a few casting cranks for walleyes every year, if they're hungry they aren't picky.
