Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

New Fenwick HMG Redesign Suprise!

Recommended Posts

Just got my replacement HMG spinning rod - I broke it a few weeks ago and got free replacement under their lifetime warrenty.

When I first looked at it I thought they sent me the wrong rod cause it looked nothing like and HMG. After closer inspection I saw that it was labeled correctly as "HMG". Confused, I brought it to the attention of the sales person at Joe's and he said it is the new redesiged HMG that is not yet available at retail stores yet. BONUS!!! Heck, I didn't even know they were doing a redesign.

The new design has some great upgrades IMO (based on visual inspection):

- Alconite guides w/ black frame, instead of Hardaloy

- TAC composite handles (same as on the new Walleye/Muskie Elite Tec), instead of cork

- Still use Corbon Veil construction

- Minimalist finish, all plain dark black cherry finish (rod & guide wraps), gold print. Overall sharp looking rod IMO.

Not sure, but the rod seems a tad heavier - maybe because the foregrip is larger than the old design. but still balance very nicely with my Saros 3000. I've used the new TAC handles on the Walleye Elite Tech rods and really like them so far.

I love Fenwick HMG rods (have six) - great rod for the price range IMO ($120-130). Very excited about the new design and can't wait to try it out. There should be some pretty good deals on the old design this fall or next spring as retailers clear them out to make room for the new design.

If you know how to post pic's on FM, and are interested in picture of the new design, post your e-mail and I can send you pic's to post.

Thanks for posting the picture catcherman!

If you like Fenwicks, I was just at a local sporting goods store that is clearing out all their Fenwick non-Elite series rods for 30% off (includes HMX, HMG, Techna AVs). Great discount on some great rods IMO, and the latter two have lifetime warrenties. So if it fails, you will get the new redesigned version.

Can't post it hear cause of forum policy. I posted the store information in the Store Sales forum - it's at the bottom of the forum list. Better hurry, cause it looked like selection was thinnig out.

    • I found a good deal on the Garmin panoptix ice unit on one of the facebook sites and made an impulse buy.  It was a couple hours away from me, so I had my buddy check it out and pick it up and so I haven't even had a chance to see it yet.  From the youtube videos I've seen they look like they could completely change how I fish year round.  Has anyone had a chance to use one and how do they like it?  I probably should have asked this question before I pulled the trigger!
    • You all should have seen the ice chips flying when Rickg Eyeguy and I started. It was a sight and the number of holes cut in a quick hurry was impressive. Let’s do it again
    • It was his first plays in two years. Not even hit yet Teddy will be fine. Don't worry Shurmur and Case will be in Cleveland next season . I have no problem if Teddy ends up being out QB next season but you never know. Next year’s free agents for QB will be nuts , not saying the big names leave but it's going to be fun to watch who ends up where and who spends money on some old arms.
    • Idk if I would use the winch rope, once that gets full of salt/chloride and sand I think it will get rotten.  I've been using winch rope on atv's since it first came out so I am fairly familiar and have broken a few of them.  I want to say I've seen a house with wide straps like seat belt material but I don't remember where.  The stainless steel cables are the best option besides going full hydraulic.  If I decide to build another one it will be hydraulic.
    • I'm not sure how good your buddies and family are at darts once they have a few pops?  But you may want to move the dart board to save your flat screen!  Just say'en!.
    • Are you going to finish the bottoms of the bunks? You'll be looking at the bottoms more than the tops. You're getting close, great feeling isn't it.
    • I retract the above statement
    • Crops are out, sloughs are frozen.  Did very well on private ground in the Ortonville area this past weekend.
    • I bought the helix 5 SI mainly for a new summer unit since i didn't have GPS in the boat and with the intention of using the GPS for the ice at a minimum.  I figured it would be so/so on the ice but it actually worked really well in graph mode.  I am still fumbling around with some of the settings.  Naturally now that the new units have arrived i wish i would have waited for the newest offerings as they look to be a bit more geared toward the ice.
