Vexilar FL-8, Marcum LX-1, or Humminbird ice35

I am looking into buying both a flasher and a fish house at the same time, but I am not really looking to get all the high end stuff. My price range is from $300-$600 and I have pretty much made my choice on a portable fish house. I do mainly pan fishing, but also do some walleye fishing. Which flasher do you think would best fit my fishing styles? I need all the help/tips i can get.

Thanks,

Chris

Having used all 3, I'd pretty close to equal after measuring all pros & cons. Ice 35 has combination of nice features but hasn't stood the test of time yet. FL-8 & Lx you can find great deals on used and they do the trick. I used the Ice-45 all of last season and liked it for the most part.

Haven't used the Bird or Lx1, but you'd do very well going with a used Vex FL-8SE (w/ Propack 2). Can find great used deals now since out of season. Extremely reliable units, if you need service, their shop is in Bloomington and can get it back to you same day if they are not busy.

If your targeting mostly panfish in 20FOW or less the zoom feature is not all that important IMHO. If you go deeper or do more walleye/perch fishing the zoom can be helpful.

I'm sure you'll be happy with any of these option, much better than not having a flasher at all. Good Luck!

The Zoom is one factor that most people tend to like. You really can't go wrong with any of them. Decide what you want to pay, what features are most important to you and pull the trigger. Then go catch some fish!
