Gardy

13 posts in this topic

This week has been a struggle and I don't usually gripe much about Gardy. But this week has been terrible in many ways!!

Hypothetical, say Gardy is coachin for the Chisox during Buehrle's perfect game. Does Gardy make the defensive adjustment? No, and thats the little things that Gardy is missing.

Also, I am tired of the shot in the dugout of Gardy chewing seeds. AHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was waiting for one of these.

Kind of ironic how Ozzie's move saved the no-hitter after all the WHINING the Chi-Sox fans have been doing when he does do the late inning switches for defense which is quite often.

Yeah Gardy should bring in Delmon for late inning defensive heroics. LOL

On a serious note and this may not wash in in here, Gardy is the equal of any manager in the game when it comes to the little things you speak of. And he does it quite often if you've been watching.

And in fairness to Gardy it's not like he has the deepest bench in League with way we run things around here..

Hope this clears things up for you Fish... grin

on a side note did anybody here the clip from just before the All Star Break where they asked Gardy what he was going to do on the break... He said tongue in cheek he was going fishing but would have the Cell phone close by in case the Twins made a big trade while he was Fishing.. grin

CLASSIC and a Great manger too boot!

Like I said, I don't fault Gardy that often. Perfect example would be having Kubel out there late in the game with a big lead. When eh-hem some of the younger guys are starving for PT and Ab's if needed.

Some of his pitching changes have always left me scatching my head.

We have one of the worst benches in baseball. When it comes down to it, we've got nothin. To compare Gardy's bench moves with any other mangager is being hard on gardy.

He makes the best with what he has, and I would rather have him in my dugout than just about anybody. He makes the best of what he has. Right now, he has a few good players and a lot of fill ins. Lets see....

No middle infield... Big questions about 3rd base..... Two Terrible outfielders.... No decent pinch hitters.... no defensive replacements.... and No one in AAA or AA that are worth bringing up better than what we have.

But he said on one of his shows, that he ended up dropping the phone in the lake, so it ended up worthless and didn't work anyway. shockedgrin

I like Gardy. I know he might do a few questionable things at times, but I bet if you asked him in person why chose what he did he would have good reasoning. You have to like Gardy better than Tom Kelly?

there are things that can be questioned, but you'll get that with every mgr. these guys know the players and what they can do better than we do so guess we have to trust them even though at times it sure doesn't seem like the right thing and sometimes the results aren't good. I think he does an okay job given the players that the owners give him to work with. I'm sure there are other mgrs much better than gardy but many that are worse too.

he might be out of a job by now if he managed another team with higher expectations from ownership and the fans but then again, getting fired from the yankees doesn't necessarily mean a mgr isn't any good.

Can't imagine any manager in baseball has done as good a job as Gardy in the last 7 years. Of course a lot of that success is how we effectively run our entire organization from the top on down.

I like Gardy alot and hope he stays with the Twins as long as he wants. Can't imagine anyone else but him on the bench...just wouldn't feel right. I can live with the decisions he makes good or bad...seems like he's made more good through the years though.

Coaches are like politicians and bosses at work.

They take too much blame for when things go wrong and get too much credit when things are going great. They have a hand in it, but it is still a TEAM effort, just alot easier to toss it all one one person's head.

Gardy is doing what he can with what he has.

Why Jesse (Train Wreck) Crain made it back to the majors, I have no idea, look at our middle infield, both batting around .200 if that, and our center fielder Gomez good as a defensive player, but needs to learn the strike zone.

Strength is up the middle and we succeed in 1 of 4 positions.

None of these issues are all Gardy's, yes he needs to coach them, but some of these guys are just not the talent we need to compete with Boston, New York, LA, Detroit.

One of the big differences between Gardy and Kelly is their GMs. Smiths either made bad trades, bad moves or done nothing. McPhail looking back made some great moves. BUT- it all doesn't rest on the GM. He does some late inning stuff, pitching moves to be exact that make me wonder. How many times, over the past couple years, have the Twins gone into the 8th with a 2-3 run lead, and the bullpen blows it? I have always said they need to put Nathan in for 1 and 2/3, 1 and 1/3 of an inning. Why does he only have to be the 9th inning guy? When the lead starts to slip he needs to put him in. I have seen him put in different pitchers and totally lose the game.

I really like Gardy and in my books he can stay until the doors close.

He may not be perfect but then who is?

He's solid as a manager, he has to play with the cards he's dealt. That was a funny line about the cell phone if a major trade LOL. He keeps me tuned in just to see if he will explode coming out of the dugout, he must have been trained by Pinella

    •   NSA To Provide "Smoking Gun" Proof Obama Spied On Trump Mar 24, 2017 5:43 AM   Yesterday, Republican Devin Nunez Nunes held an explosive press conference outside the White House in which he told reporters that communications from the Trump team were picked up and disseminated within the government during the 2016 campaign.  Not surprisingly, the comments ruffled some liberal feathers and the mainstream media launched an immediate smear campaign calling for Nunes to resign his post immediately.  Now, according to Fox News sources, congressional investigators expect that a potential “smoking gun” from the NSA establishing that the Obama administration spied on the Trump transition team, and possibly the president-elect himself, will be produced to the House Intelligence Committee as early as tomorrow.   The intelligence is said to leave no doubt the Obama administration, in its closing days, was using the cover of legitimate surveillance on foreign targets to spy on President-elect Trump, according to sources.   The FBI hasn’t been responsive to the House Intelligence Committee’s request for documents, but the National Security Agency is expected to produce documents to the committee by Friday. The NSA document production is expected to produce more intelligence than Nunes has so far seen or described – including what one source described as a potential “smoking gun” establishing the spying.   Classified intelligence showing incidental collection of Trump team communications, purportedly seen by committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and described by him in vague terms at a bombshell Wednesday afternoon news conference, came from multiple sources, Capitol Hill sources told Fox News. The intelligence corroborated information about surveillance of the Trump team that was known to Nunes, sources said, even before President Trump accused his predecessor of having wiretappedhim in a series of now-infamous tweets posted on March 4.   The key to that conclusion is the unmasking of selected U.S. persons whose names appeared in the intelligence, the sources said, adding that the paper trail leaves no other plausible purpose for the unmasking other than to damage the incoming Trump administration.   Because Nunes’s intelligence came from multiple sources during a span of several weeks, and he has not shared the actual materials with his committee colleagues, he will be the only member of the panel in a position to know whether the NSA has turned over some or all of the intelligence he is citing. If true, of course, this could put a 'slight' taint Obama's claim of a "scandal free" eight years in the White House.   **snip**   .........If Nunes is correct, and Trump was being wiretapped for reasons having nothing to do with Russia, that entire narrative falls apart, and the press will now have to spend the next few weeks building up an entirely new narrative to "justify" why Trump was being wiretapped on Obama's watch.   Link     Delicious...
    • My wife and I like to float down the Crow from Rockford to the Mississippi. Hardly anyone on the river except Bald Eagles. Found some nice chicken of the woods mushrooms last summer.
    • Trump got the information from Nunes. Nunes heads the House intel committee, but Nunes also was a member of Trump's transition team. Nunes then fed information to Trump (information that apparently nobody else on the intelligence committee has) about incidental observation of Trump and his transition team (a team that includes Nunes himself).
    • A better question would be are you right?  Even the articles you link to don't really support your "most likely" assertions so you have to resort to everything is a lie as evidence, like Donald's twitter, and anyone that doesn't believe your alternative facts is an Obama luvin' librul.
    • What projects have you worked on? Big or small lets see um. Anything, guns, boats, cars, Decoys.    I had fun reworking a few old Harley Golf carts. Didn't have any digital before shots to post. The carts I got were in very bad shape. Had to do a lot of fiberglass body work on them and some mechanical work to get them running. Just used boat seats as I didn't want to throw a bunch of cash at reworking the old seats and one cart had no seats at all when I got it. I took all the big chrome front bumper and bag bars off and glassed over the holes. Everyone had cracks in the front nose cones and rear ends. Not perfect but fun. Top picture is one of the nicer ones I started reworking.
    • Do you have any thoughts about what state you're heading to for this?  CO is draw only but there are lots of decent options available with 0 points. MT had leftover tags which is good because you missed the deadline already. WY has options you could draw. ND has passed. NM passed. UT not a good option with no points I think. ID may have some options but not certain. SD and NE may have some good options but I've never hunted either.   That's some basic info on states. Once you pick a state and get a tag it's really not complicated for the most part. Get elevated, glass up a muley, bed him, sneak in him without being smelled it seen, shoot him!   My son and I just found out we drew ND muley tags this year so we're pumped about that!
