Cut Bait on Bottom?

4 posts in this topic

When fishing with cut bait, is it best to fish it right on the bottom or just off the bottom with a bobber?

I have always just fished it on the bottom with a typical slip sinker bottom rig. I seem to do ok, interested to see if anyone uses a bobber.

It will work both ways. When fishing in an area with current and a lot of snags or debris I will put a bobber about 4" to 6" in front of the bait. The bobber doesn't seem to bother them - when channels decide to eat they will hammer a bait.
