Wire size/type used in bottom bouncers?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to make some modified bottom bouncers but I can't seem to figure out what size/type of wire is used for bottom bouncers. Specifically I want to make a bottom bouncer where I can change the weight by attaching a tear drop type weight to a swivel. It won't bounce on the bottom so much as allow my weight and snell not to get tangled.

thanks

stainless steel .035 -.045 is used, .040 is most common. it's not like ''life or death'' the same be used though. you can buy preformed bouncer wire at mills fleet farm in packs of, i think, 25 for about 5 bucks. comes with a snap and swivel attached and you can just modify from there. if you insist on making your own they have coils there too of torsion straightened leader wire near the downrigging supplies in that diameter range (the bigger of the two choices is .040 if memory serves but has a gauge number not decimal). good luck.
