'08 Nav Chips

8 posts in this topic

Might not be the best place to post this question, but I figured someone here would know... Are there any stores in the metro area that still have the 2008 Navionics chips in stock? Looking to get the north chip... Went to gander last night and they only had the '09.

Thanks!

I have a new 09' on my bow unit and the 08 gold package on my HBird on the console. The 09 is missing structure on the Alex chain and I am told that some 09 do not even have Gull Lake data at all. I guess there is a new 09 coming out with the better data. Caveat emptor.

Hey Capt. Do you have a Lowrance on the bow? If so it's not the chip, you need ANOTHER update. Then it will show Alex. Not the chip its the Lowrance surprise surprise.

It is a Lowrance but it shows Alex in detail but is missing some humps. I was told that there is an updated 09 because data is missing such as all of Gull Lake. I was thinking I got the last pertinent update for my Lowrance but will check it out,, thanks for the possible heads up,.

Sorry to sound so bitter, I just have to deal with these issues (Lowrance) everyday and it just gets kind of old. You are correct. Nav does have a 2nd issue of the 09 chip. If you check one out and it has a better map then what you have you can send yours to Navionics and they will get you the new one at no charge, Or depending on where you got it you might be able to do it over the counter. Hope that helps if you need any contact info let me know. Good luck.

    • It's not optimum for home defense or hunting either. Basically just lower cost plinking.    As far as Bushmaster, they make ok guns for sure. But personally the fact that they are owned by a venture capital firm who tried but failed to sell them off some time ago, they are more than likely controlled by bean counters rather than gun enthusiasts and that generally doesn't bode well for quality.

    • I usually get mine from Tim over at Stump Jumper Designs. He does great work and has lots of choices of woods etc...
    •   Yeah, but you know your Aunt Bev will never make fun and insult you on FaceBook like you will get here!
    • Smoked 3 slimers last week.  real simple brine, 1 cup pickling salt, 1 cup brown sugar and water to cover.  24 hr soak.  added onions and brown sugar on top. 3.5 hrs at 195.  Used to leave skin on, dealt with the slime.  still tasted great.  Been skin off for a couple batches lately and its the way to go.  no slime to deal with, just sprayed the rack with pam.  hammerhandles be ware!
    • I've only tried them with Northern, but honestly, I'm not sure I could taste the difference if I didn't make them myself.  All psychological, IMO - this will likely start an off-topic discussion BUT I participated in an 8 person taste test between Walleye, Northern and Bass (yes, we cut-up a medium sized bucket-mouth).  I was the only one to name all three fish correctly and it was only due to the fact that my friend who was in-charge of the test accidentally missed a y-bone so I just had to guess in-between walleye and bass and I guessed correctly.  A couple of the guys also had a y-bone and got their guess between 'eye and bass wrong!!!  Flaky white fish is flaky white fish - especially when you bust it all up, mix it with bread crumbs, mayo and whatever else.  Again, just my opinion.
    •   I agree the split did not work out. Also a lot of people are on FB. Heck I finally joined last year. Jury is still out whether I like it or not!!
