Stolen lic. plate?

10 posts in this topic

The front plate was removed from my truck last night. I made sure I had ins. info handy when I went to work this Am. I can not be at the DOT until Fri. My question is why would someone do this? How long am I going to get drive off issues? How long do I need to worry about this and what would be the best way to protect myself from the punks that are wearing my plate? (on a good note---The tabs expired on the 10th of this month. It must suck to be a stupid thief. He steals a plate with expired tabs.) I can not get there until Friday.

Last year in the St. Cloud area with high gas prices people would steal the plates, put them on their car and do a fill and run at gas stations. It was advised to report any of those thefts to the police.

I had the front plate stolen off my truck last weenend...I did report it to the local police and they took my other plate as well. They advised it is the best practice to report stolen plates in the event they are used in a crime - a CYA move. I think it cost $6.50 for my new plates.

In my opinion, all thieves are stupid.

yep, the most common reason is to use them to do a fill and run at the gas stations.

Had my plates stolen once too, reported it and got new plates. The cops got the guy a few months later. A lot of DWI drivers do this cuz they can't get plates or don't want the W plates on car. Also thieves so the plate can't be traced. It is essential you report it to cover your tail, saves a lot hassle sometimes.

Its probably to late now but invest in the new conservation plate with the fishing boat. They look awesome and goes for a good cause.

I switched out on my Camry when the tabs needed renewal.

Best $40 bucks I spent.

It took three trips to the dmv because of lack of time and long lines but I did get the new plates. I used a different screw head for each bolt. I put all 4 in too. It will take a little longer to pull them this time.

Good thinking on the differant screw heads I think I'll do the same. If is not easy they will just go to the next one.

    •   Well may be instead of buying a few over priced pizza's and eating them while you're sitting on the internet Beoshing about others doing something with their time and money you can get off your atheist ars and go help the folks with a few blanks! Freeking Hypocrite much!

    • We're not setting any records but managing to decoy a few. Struggling with a new gun that I'm too stubborn to set aside. Just happy to be out at all with what I've been through.
    •   Dave- I'm as disillusioned as you with regards to our two main parties and I've been known to lurk around the edges of the Libertarian camp. What keeps me from coming all the way in is silly stuff like this.   You're as delusional as an altar boy that thinks the priest wants to be his "friend" if you believe churches are going to fix anything. They never have and they never will.    If churches help the poor, why are there so many poor people?   Here are a couple great examples of christians helping poor people- 1- A group from my community just got back from a mission trip to some central american rathole where 27 men that paid over $2000 apiece to go 1500 miles to build what were more or less 3 garages for some poor community. A little time for sightseeing and photo taking and they are back home with tons of pretty pictures proud of themselves for doing gods work. 2- The wife just bought 3 overpriced crappy pizzas from my niece to fund her New Orleans mission trip. A bunch of kids will raise several thousand dollars from suckers like me, take a nice trip somewhere I never went as a kid, see some sights and paint a couple houses.   Meanwhile, we live in a county where real, abject poverty actually exists. Students of mine go to bed hungry, don't have enough blankets in their house and live in homes one wouldn't leave their dog in.
    • Last week I got my two Helix Mega in. I a lot of people ask me how I install them and how to avoid interference. Follow these tips and interference will be a thing of the past.
    • You are a confused individual , you might not have jumped on the Apple dumpling gang bandwagon at first but it didnt take you long to sit side by side. And where do you get off saying I'm whining as you spell it,  go back and read the thread again. Snowflake huh? Dave you need to get otta silly town...oh and BTW after limit hit up our group they all left!!
    • You really don't need much insulation under the ground slab, I like to use pole barn ins.[bubble wrap] or 1 inch r board [heat rises],gyp crete works but it is patented and can only be installed by certified and licensed factory contractors. they mix it on sight, it cant be mixed by youre local ready mix provider,as the formula is property of gyp crete.
