Dogs & Fertilizer

We'll do the front yard one day and the back yard the next. That way he has a safe place. That's this year...now last year, the fert guys who drive around in the white and green trucks came into my back yard while my dogs were out and applied anyway...which is a gripe for another area of the forum.

I guess the jury is out on whether or not it is safe. The fert guys in the white and green truck say it is safe, but I prefer to do my yard over two days and keep the dogs out just to be on the safe side.

If it's just straight fertilizer, I wouldn't worry about it.

If it's weed-n-feed, then either do the front yard / back yard on different days, or at least leave an area where the dog can run free and easy for 24-48 hours, and then do that area and the dog can run on the other.

If you don't have that many weeds, then I'd suggest just using a straight fertilizer, and then just spot spraying the weeds.

This is the approach I take with 90% of the lawns I apply on.
