How to build a canoe motor mount

3 posts in this topic

Does anyone have any decent plans on how to build a motor mount for a canoe? I did some google searching and wasn't thrilled about some of the designs I saw...Thanks,

Ben

A piece of 2" aluminum angle iron, it has 2 cuts and 2 90* bends at each cut. one inside bend and one outside bend. should be a "Z" shape so to speak. One length should be the width of the canoe behind rear seat then about 6" and then about 10". Then I have a strong pice of wood mounted on that section which holds the motor. On the aluminum canoe it is mounted w/ bolts on the gunwhale. on the old town I hold it on w/ 2 C-clamps. works great. I would love to shoot you a picture, easier said than done for me.
