Just got a new lowrance hds5 and it worked great now when I turn on the unit the gps pat works for a few min and then stops and then will wait a half hour and work again what could be wrong also has anyone else had any problems with this???

Do the software update if you haven't done it already, it cleaned up some of the gps functions. After that try a soft reset. If those don't fix it then you'll need to talk to customer service at Lowrance and they'll replace it for you.
