Lowrance 510C acting up

dirtking

Question

I have a Lowrance 510C that is about a year old and has not been used a ton. On the last fishing trip it worked fine while the boat was moving, but if I sat in one place too long it would loose bottom and read 2 or 2.1 feet until I got moving again. Any ideas on what is going on, it is making it a real pain for still fishing

You could have been reading algae or bugs in the water, I had some of that going on with an LMS unit (same depthfinder as your x510c) this weekend when I got into 17+ fow. My HDS would read through it but the LMS was having some hang-ups with it.

I didn't try to tune in my LMS but the first things to try would be reducing the sensitivity --- then the ping speed ---- and maybe put it in the manual depth range mode instead of auto depth range.
