Minn Kota Traxxis?

10 posts in this topic

So I think this is what I'll be going with to replace my Endura. Looking at the 55lb model, thoughts? Opinions? Reveiws?

Is there an option to get a variable speed unit vs a selectable speed unit?

Ok so I see that there is two models of the 55#, one has the Digital Maximizer and varible speed, one does not have the Maximizer and only has 5 speed. I've had an Endura so I'm used to the 5 speed, but do I need the "Maximizer" is it worth almost $100 more?

Everyone I know that has the Traxxis has been really happy with it.

I think the maximizer is worth it. Speed is infinitely adjustable, you just turn it up or down to where needed, instead of "clicking" it into one of the 5 speeds --- so you get better speed control. Also, it is a huge saver on battery life, your battery will last much longer with a maximizer motor than without.

The rebate is still in effect for a few more days. You can see the details on the Traxxis and the rebate here at Pro Fishing Supply

PJ, your links to your site don't work for me.

Thanks for the info on the motor though, I will likely go with the higher priced model then. Hopefully it last for 5+ years and I'll be glad I spent the extra money.

Thanks, it's working fine now.

One more question for you PJ, can I set this motor up to back troll by turning the head around on it or some other method?

Thanks again.

I have many hours on my new Traxxis. It's a 55# with maximizer. I'm very happy with it. The only issue I have is that occasionally it gives me a fight when trying to tilt forward. With splash guards you need to tilt it when raising or lowering it. And you need to pay attention when locking into place for use as it will tilt on it's own when you goose it. It's all related to the same mechanism.

    • ouch, I would think all would good now, but one never knows.  life is good today is all i know.
    • 33 pounds. nice looking unit but kinda heavy. nice price out there.
    • Mostly commenting this "sold a bunch of talk, and you believe that talk and vote against your own interests" but I do love it when people assume I am somehow D or R because I make a comment against their beloved party.

    • Holiday Bowl isn't too shabby. I wonder if Tracy Claeys is nervous? Last time the gophers played a Mike Leach led team, it cost their coach his job
    • I'm not in the market for a new auger since purchasing an Ion, but I see FF has a Redback electric auger in their ad. This auger looks similar to the Ion for significantly less money. Does anyone have experience with this auger? Just wanted to bring it up as a possible alternative to those who might be in the  market for an electric. As a side note, I am very happy with the Ion.
    • MLR, how heavy is your house?   After reading your experience I was getting worried. Earlier this summer I swapped out my handles with bolts and gave them a brief trial with my old cordless Dewalt. It was pretty much maxed out and likely not the ticket. Just purchased the Dewalt kit DCK283D2 that is 40% off at FF in hopes it might work. I figured the impact driver would work but didn't really want to be hammering on the gear set. Tried out the drill after work today on low speed and it raises my house easily. My house weighs approximately 3000#. No more hand cranking for me.   Wanted to get the Milwaukee Fuel but couldn't see spending $275 for one drill. This kit is $167 for drill and driver with 2 batteries and charger.
    • I was talking about the heat from the heat exchanger making the fan hot.  With the fan at the top it blows the hot air out the bottom of the heater to help heat the floor.
    • This summer?   Seems like a long time.  Are you sure this guy knew what he was doing?     Freezing may or may not kill the parasite.     From CDC.  Freezing wild game meats, unlike freezing pork products, may not effectively kill all worms because some worm species that infect wild game animals are freeze-resistant.
